“Re-presence” group exhibition
I applied the batik techniques in my painting. The batik making process makes color diffuse and becomes watery giving the impression of lightness and transparency. This approach offers smooth texture, which is a complete aesthetic that inspires ease and femininity. I’m interested in this type of technique, which conveys restriction of women under the cultural framework where women need to be ladylike and noble. They are expected to behave in a way that is thought to be socially acceptable. This type of limitation goes against the inner feeling of some women. My goal is to use batik art as a platform to explore life of a woman who has freedom and courage to express her commonality in her own private space.
